On November 29, the newly constructed Emergency Surgery Building of the Nyainrong County Central Hospital in Nagqu City, Xizang Autonomous Region, funded by CHN Energy, was officially put into operation. This modern facility provides advanced medical equipment and comprehensive healthcare services to local residents, significantly improving healthcare standards in Nyainrong County and meeting the medical needs of over 30,000 residents within their community.
Established in April 1976, Nyainrong County Central Hospital's original infrastructure struggled to meet the growing healthcare demands of the local population. To address this, CHN Energy funded the construction of the new Emergency Surgery Building, which broke ground on May 25, 2024. The facility spans 2,130 square meters, with a total investment of 11.2 million RMB. It includes essential infrastructure such as water supply, drainage, heating and power systems alongside the main building.
Nyainrong County, located at an average altitude of 4,700 meters and often referred to as the "no man's land", posed significant challenges during construction. Builders overcame obstacles such as extreme altitude and thick permafrost to ensure the project was completed, operational and effective within the same year it began.
Since 2002, CHN Energy has invested a cumulative 43.92 million RMB in upgrading and renovating Nyainrong County People's Hospital, Tibetan Medicine Hospital, and township health clinics.
Beyond infrastructure, the Group's healthcare support in Xizang has been extensive. A total of 31.71 million RMB has been allocated to high-altitude health initiatives, providing specialized oxygen concentrators and oxygen tanks that have benefited over 1,000 people. The construction of telemedicine platforms and the procurement of CT medical equipment have supported more than 4,800 patient visits. Additionally, the Group conducts annual training for 400 healthcare workers in Nyainrong County and 50 rural doctors specializing in high-altitude healthcare. Thanks to initiatives like CHN Energy's High-Altitude Healthcare Program, Nyainrong County has now largely achieved the goal of “treating common illnesses within the township, major illnesses within the county, and receiving specialized assistance for complex cases”.
